Colors speak to me, and I love playing with different hues as I weave. Despite our differing preferences, most of us agree on which color combinations are calming, which are cheerful, and which denote danger. We don’t even know why colors elicit responses. It isn’t a logical process but, like music, colors bypass the head and speak straight to the heart. My works explore how fabric woven with a variety of dyed threads elicits feelings. The repetition of cool tones can draw one into meditation. The contrast of sharp borders can pique interest. Waves of floral tones can create movement through a piece. Each work instills a mood through color.
